Plumes of black smoke seen for miles after tire recycle plant fire in Bristol

Few details are known about a fire at a recycle plant in Bristol, Tennessee and the plumes of black smoke that can be seen as far away as Blountville.

The preliminary information places the blaze at Patriot Recycling located at 247 Industrial Road.

The information on Patriot’s website says they began operations in the fall of 2013 and claims to be the only approved tire recycling center in the state of Tennessee. they shred tires then take those materials to make other products, according to the company.

Portions of Weaver Pike leading to Industrial Park Road were packed with traffic shortly after Bristol fire crews arrived on scene. Photos posted on social media showed a Quint fire truck with its telescopic boom attacking the fire from above the building.
