Juneteenth celebration planned in Greeneville June 21

Juneteenth celebrations are in full swing across the region, marking the end of slavery in the United States and honoring Black history and culture. Community members are gathering for a Juneteenth celebration in Greeneville featuring music, food, local vendors, and educational displays. Organizers said the event is an opportunity to honor the significance of June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
