High speed pursuit in Greene/Washington Counties leads to arrest

An arrest was made Tuesday morning after a high-speed pursuit through Greene County and Johnson City. Tennessee Highway Patrol says that around 10:30 a.m., a white Chevrolet Sonic was driving at 90 mph near mile marker 47 on Interstate 81 in Greene County. The vehicle then refused to stop for troopers and fled north on I-81. A citizen tried to use their vehicle to block the fleeing vehicle around mile marker 17 on Interstate 26 in Washington County, but the suspect made it around and continued on until Johnson City Police deployed spike strips at Exit 19. The vehicle came to a stop at the bottom of the exit ramp and 52 year old Tonya Richards was arrested and now faces multiple charges including evading, speeding and third offense for driving on a revoked license.
