Elizabethton intersection shut down for hours after dump truck incident

An Elizabethton intersection was shut down for several hours after a commercial dump truck with its back bed still elevated came through and took out a red light, power lines, fiber optic cables and other components.

Law enforcement officers directed drivers to detours while contractors and city electric crews were deployed for repairs.

There was no details of possible charges against the truck driver in a Thursday report issued by city offices.
