Bristol TN council gets “State Liners” update

The Bristol State Liners Appalachian League team is scheduled to spend it’s second season using the TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City for it’s home games, as the team awaits a new home field in Bristol. During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, officials received an update regarding the team from Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Mains. He presented the board a proposed partnership between Boyd Sports, which owns the team, and Bristol Tennessee City Schools. Renovations to Tod Houston Memorial Field will not only give the State Liners a new facility, but also a field that will be used by the Bristol TN school system and the team and would also be available for the city to use. The field will need some upgrades and renovations to be ready, and Mains said there is no set date as to when the project would be complete. The council will vote on the partnership at next Tuesday’s meeting.
