Carter County brothers accused of killing father scheduled for trial

A pair of Carter County brothers are scheduled to go on trial this week, according to court documents, after being charged with their father’s death two years ago.

Jacob and Joshua Hitchcock are accused of devising a plot to kill their father Bill Hitchcock Jr. after the eldest placed the family farm up for sale. Prosecutors said just 20 minutes after the father had signed a contract for the purchase, Joshua drove to the homeplace and shot his father whose body was later found by passing fishermen.

Court officials said the trial is scheduled to conclude on May 21st.
