Suspect in two shootings taken into custody

The suspect wanted in connection to two April shootings, was taken into custody on Friday, according to the Washington County, Virginia Sheriffs Office. A credible tip led authorities to Harley Pope. The Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office, Special Response Team attempted to call Pope out of the home peacefully, but Pope fled from the back of the home into a nearby wooded area. After a brief manhunt, Pope was apprehended without incident. Pope was wanted out of Virginia and Tennessee for two separate shooting incidents, one in Bluff City and one in Bristol, Virginia. Pope is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
