VA Dept. of Energy plans for SWVA to base nuclear reactor.

The Virginia Department of Energy issued a press release Monday saying that Virginia is moving forward with plans to use Southwest Virginia as the base of operations for a nuclear reactor. The project will be supported by a $100,000 grant from the Virginia Clean Energy Innovation Bank and a $97,500 GO Virginia grant. Those grants will help Southwest Virginia in applying for other funding that will spur the initiative. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin said bringing nuclear energy production to Southwest Virginia will stimulate growth in the region.
