Two Southwest Virginia localities having dead vultures tested for avian flu

Another Southwest Virginia locale is asking residents to be cautious if they spot dead vulture carcasses, raising concerns over possible avian flu outbreaks among flocks.
A social media message from Glade Spring officials says multiple dead birds have been found there and Virginia game officials are testing one of them. Neighboring Saltville is also addressing the same issue with a cautionary message on Facebook earlier this week.
The Department of Health is also monitoring although their statement says risk to humans is low and commercial poultry operations have reported no impact.
