Two former Quillen VA employees sentenced in bribery scheme

Two former employees of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center were sentenced Wednesday. 59 year old, Monika Schorer, and, 59 year old, Teresa Schorer, both of Jonesborough, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Greeneville to eight months in prison and ordered to pay more than $213,000 in restitution and a $10,000 fine, for their alleged roles in a bribery scheme. The two women who are win sisters, will also have to serve three years of supervised release after getting out of prison. Each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The sisters were accused of taking cash bribes from surgical sales representatives, allegedly in the form of cash-stuffed envelopes and a promised ownership interest in a business.
