TN Governor Lee ok’s National Guard to assist federal deportation plan

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee is mobilizing the National Guard to assist with President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan. The decision was made following a request for assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. A statement from the Governors office said that the Governor authorized Tennessee National Guardsmen under Title 32 status to assist with administrative and clerical duties at Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facilities within the state. These service members will assist with tasks including data entry, case management, and logistical support. The soldiers will be under the state’s command, but will be paid by the federal government.
