TDEC to hold hazardous waste collection in Sullivan County

On Saturday, The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is hosting its mobile household hazardous waste collection service in Sullivan County. The service is free and open to all area residents, not just Sullivan county. The collection happens Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sullivan Central Middle School, 131 Shipley Ferry Road. Household hazardous waste includes cleaning fluids, pesticides, swimming pool chemicals, paint thinner and used needles in sturdy containers. Ammunition, explosives, alkaline batteries, paint, electronics and any empty containers that should be disposed of in normal trash will not be accepted.
