TBI: Johnson City cop intentionally turned off body camera following 2024 pursuit

Local and state investigators claim a Johnson City police officer intentionally turned off his body-worn camera and in-car video system following a vehicle pursuit in April of 2024.
A TBI report said Connor Cooper turned himself in Friday after his indictment by a grand jury on two counts of official misconduct and one count of tampering with government records.
The report said Cooper also directed an officer trainee riding with him to switch off his body cam in an effort to unlawfully tamper with, limit or conceal the availability of video footage. Cooper has been fired from the agency. He was issued a $3,000 bond during his arrest at the Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough.
