Taco John’s social media promotes free meals to struggling families
The Taco John’s Mexican restaurant franchise is offering free meals to needy families due to SNAP program dollars falling short.
The chain’s Elizabethton, Tennessee location placed the message from corporate headquarters onto their social media to help spread the word. SNAP EBT cards will not receive new funding refreshes beginning Nov. 1 due to the congressional shutdown.
“Much like all of you, we have seen some unusual times right now. With SNAP benefits being cut and people not being paid to work, we have a lot of people that could use some help. So, we’re going to do what we can,” the Taco John’s message says.
The post says meals will be served to those who ask for the “Community Special” consisting of a bean or beef burrito and an order of Potato Oles with no questions asked.
