Suspect in Richlands hit-and-run crash arrested

A Buchanan County, Virginia woman has been charged following a hit-and-run crash earlier this week in the town of Richlands while the victim has been transferred to another medical facility.

Police said Courtney Nicole Perkins, 26, of Raven left the scene of the Wednesday crash that occurred just after 11:30 pm on Front Street near McDonald’s.

The report said Perkins was developed as a suspect and her vehicle was then found abandoned on Thursday. Officers found Perkins on Friday and charged her with failure to report an accident involving serious injury and obstruction of justice.

Perkins is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail. The report also said the victim of Wednesday’s incident had been sent to a trauma center for specialized care after her initial ER visit.
