Sullivan County Sheriff commends deputies for quick actions during house fire

It took two attempts but two Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies were able to extract a woman from a burning home in Kingsport.

A report from Sheriff Jeff Cassidy’s office said Deputies Todd Stanley and Thomas Buxton came to the scene after the initial emergency call to Throngrove Drive in Kingsport that stated the resident was still inside. Stanley and Buxton ran into the dwelling but had to back out due to thick smoke and flames.

Their second dash was successful—making contact with the victim and escorting her out without injury. The sheriff said the actions of his deputies showed their commitment to the job and to helping the community.
