Spread of bird flu continues with Glade Spring dead clusters confirmed
Testing on dead vultures found in Glade Spring confirmed avian flu, according to a town report.
Guidance from state game officials remains the same: limit exposure and handling of dead birds, report any dead birds on public property for proper disposal, take extra biosecurity measures if you house exotic or farming birds, and continue to report clusters of dead birds.
The spread of the H5 bird flu is statewide with the first case this year discovered in January. Exposure has extended to both sides of Virginia, including dead cranes at the zoo in Richmond to several dead vultures disposed of in Saltville.
