Route 58 to Damascus re-opens 5 months ahead of schedule

Hurricane recovery efforts in Virginia are ahead of schedule as Route 58 in Damascus reopened Thursday. After flooding from Hurricane Helene, 1.5 miles of Route 58 were washed out, leaving the road impassable. Most residents had to take significant detours when traveling to and from Damascus. The construction project had originally planned to be finished in October but was completed five months ahead of schedule. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and other dignitaries were in attendance for the ribbon-cutting celebration.
