Roanoke College completes down-to-the-wire election survey

The field of undecided voters has been slimmed down in Virginia as we approach Tuesday’s general election.

A down to the wire poll taken by Roanoke College shows the registered voters who couldn’t decide between Abigail Spanberger or Winsome Earle-Sears decreased from 14 to 4 percent when comparing numbers from an August survey by the school. Spanberger’s overall lead among voters is 10 percent, 51 to 41 percent, going into one of only two general elections in the US with the other in New Jersey.

A total of 67 percent of likely Virginia voters are excited about the event and the big issues picked by the public heading into Election Day are democracy and inflation as the top 2, followed by immigration, taxes, abortion and crime.

Only 1 percent of registered voters said the texting controversy involving Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones caused them to change their vote with 87 percent voting for Jones anyway and 8 percent declined to answer the poll. The latest poll from the Roanoke College Institute for Policy and Opinion Research shows GOP Attorney General Jason Miyares continuing to lead Jones.
