New $300,000 federal grant for water project in Big Stone Gap

In a joint statement made Wednesday, Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, announced that Big Stone Gap will see a more-than $300,000 federal grant to support its Sunrise Village Water Extension Project. The grant was awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission and will be used to construct 3,170 feet of waterline to 17 households located in an unserved portion of Wise County. The ARC is a federal and state economic development agency that works to support more than 400 counties across the Appalachian region.
