Kingsport reevaluates plan for MeadowView

Leaders in Kingsport are reevaluating the management and structure of the property plan for the MeadowView Resort and Conference Center. Michael Borders, the assistant city manager of Kingsport, stated that external factors are increasing pressure, ranging from wages, environmental and macroeconomic factors. The City of Kingsport runs part of the resort, including the convention center, and changes have caused under-performance in recent years. The city is currently discussing with its partners what needs to change at MeadowView to ensure sustainability. According to the Kingsport business plan for this year, there is more than a $1 million difference between the budget and forecast of total city sales at MeadowView.
