Kingsport police bid farewell to K9 Whiskee

A rare cancer has claimed K9 Officer Whiskee of the Kingsport Police Department.
An agency statement said Whiskee was a dual-purpose dog, helping his officer in patrol duty and narcotic cases.
He remained active on the force after his diagnosis and his handler Carrie Peters was the first female K9 handler in the department’s history.
Whiskee was honored by fellow officers prior to his departure.
