June 30 deadline approaches for TN property tax relief program for Helene victims

There is less that a week left for Northeast Tennessee residents whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed during Helene to apply for Tennessee’s property tax relief program. Those applications opened in February, but just a week before the deadline, just 47 percent of people eligible have applied. The program offers a payment worth 130 percent of your 2024 property taxes if your property was deemed destroyed or with major damage from Helene. Officials say it’s an easy process and the only documentation needed is legal ID, a W-9, and the deed from your property assessors office.
