JC Commissioners set to finalize decision on vacant seat

Johnson City Commissioners carefully consider their pick to fill the vacant commission seat. For five hours, commissioners asked questions and each candidate was given 45 minutes to answer questions on goals, interpretations of existing strategic plans and city economics, solutions to homelessness and transparency in local government, as well as how they would address public opinion and criticism. Interviewees were also given a chance to ask questions. Commissioners will finalize their decision on the position at their regular meeting Thursday. The selected individual will complete a term that ends in November 2026. That seat will then be up for election again.
