I-40 reopens after mudslide/flooding clean up

I-40 reopened on June 27 after a the Tennessee Department of Transportation said the road would open on or before Thursday, July 3, after the flash flooding about 2 weeks ago. Officials are still asking drivers to use extreme caution as workers are still present, as Helene repairs continue in the area. I-40 was closed on June 18 due to flooding and a mudslide. Traffic had been diverted back to the “Hurricane Helene” routes temporarily while the cleanup and repairs were made.
