Four weekends and zero felonies with county deputies patrolling downtown Johnson City

The extra manpower of Washington County Tennessee deputies seemed to impact weekends in downtown Johnson City with no violent incidents reported, according to Sheriff Keith Sexton.
Unruly suspects was one reason cited by City Council weeks ago when the 1:30 alcohol curfew was proposed.
By the numbers, Sexton’s community policing project included 50 individual deputies volunteering for patrols—resulting in a payroll addition of over $25,000, a fee Sexton paid for with state grant funding. In four weekends, deputies made 24 arrests for violations including public intoxication, underage consumption and disorderly conduct.
