Former school board chairman who paid children for sex act videos sent to prison for 30 years

A startling chapter for Smyth County Public Schools came to a close in a US District courtroom with their former school board chairman receiving a 30-year prison sentence for paying young boys to perform in sex act videos.

Todd Williams, 54, of Chilhowie pleaded guilty to bribing six children with money on debit cards or with gifts like new shoes to produce explicit material for him to watch. One of Williams’ victims sexually abused his younger stepbrother with directions from Williams over two years time.

Evidence also showed Williams used his position as an assistant with a boys basketball team in Smyth County to capture video of the students in their locker room.

The FBI said they determined Williams had abused 11 victims and there are other children he violated that have not been identified.
