ETSU to unveil new exhibit featuring Hurricane Helene impact on region

East Tennessee State University is unveiling an art exhibition this fall that centers around the local impact of Hurricane Helene. The exhibit is named “Layered, Woven and Pierced: Appalachian Soul A Year On” and will be open to the public September 4 – October 18 at the Tipton-Ashe Art Gallery downtown. The exhibit serves as both a memorial to honor those lost during Helene and as a means to celebrate the resiliency of the region. The exhibit features more than 20 regional artists whose work captures both the devastation and the remarkable recovery following Hurricane Helene. Gallery hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 5-7 p.m.
