Emergency teams to escort EMT Fred Kemp to final resting place on Saturday
A procession will take fallen EMS tech Fred Kemp to his final resting space this weekend and Washington County emergency officials want drivers and residents to be aware of traffic pattern changes and delays prior to the ceremony.
The escort will begin at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home on West Jackson in Jonesborough at 11 am Saturday then proceed almost four miles to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The statement said those who want to honor Kemp can line the streets and highways along the route in safe spaces.
The route goes from Jackson to Boone and Main Street onto Highway 81 South, Jim Town Road then ending at the worship center on Mt Zion Church Road.
Seating inside the church is reserved for family, friends and first responders.
Kemp died one week ago after receiving fatal injuries at the Blue Hole nature area in Elizabethton. EMS officials said Kemp fell from a sizeable distance during a training exercise.
