Demolition has started at Carter County Higher Education Center site

Demolition work has started at the future site of the Carter County Higher Education Center. The new facility will be located at the former Workforce Development Complex on Highway 91. Demolition got underway July 7, and the new facility is expected to open next year. The $40 million project is a collaboration between Northeast State Community College, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, Carter County Schools, and the City of Elizabethton. Once it’s operational, the campus will feature a three-story academic building, a technology building, and a shop building, totaling around 71,000 square feet.
