Bristol, Virginia, Food City parent company agree to terms on new baseball stadium

A contract is now in place to bring Appalachian League baseball back to Bristol, Virginia.
City Council will take action on a deal that will finance $1.1 million for a property purchase off of Bob Morrison Boulevard, according to tax map information, where a new multi-use stadium will be built for use by the Bristol State Liners and Virginia High’s baseball program.
The original price of $1.6 million was lowered during negotiations with K-VA-T Food Stores, the parent company of Food City, who will obtain naming rights for the park and the design of the logo of the facility.
The project came to light after negotiations between Bristol Tennessee leaders and Boyd Sports to renovate Tod Houston Field fell apart.
