Bristol TN leaders vote for two year moratorium for data centers

The Bristol, Tennessee City Council voted unanimously on a first reading to pass an ordinance placing a two-year moratorium on the establishment of data centers Tuesday evening. Leaders plan to use the time to research and make sure that zoning regulations account for all the things data centers bring with them. The ordinance was introduced following backlash against data centers and Bitcoin mining in several communities in the region. The city council and the city planning committee, will research data centers and receive public feedback concerning their potential establishment in Bristol over the next couple of years. The City Council will hold the second reading in October with public comment.
