Bars band together to fight proposed last call time in Johnson City

Downtown bar operators in Johnson City have combined resources to garner support for their fight against a 1 am last call for alcohol ordinance proposed by the City Commission.
A letter posted on SaveOurBars.com suggests other alternatives can be put in place to keep the current 3 am call in place. Those bar owners say the change will take revenue away from their accounts and customers away from their door and are asking the board to consider an increased police presence on the weekends and have meaningful conversations about real solutions.
The new law’s first reading is scheduled for Thursday.
