Appalachia resident’s run from the law ends near his home

An Appalachia resident with an off-the-grid campsite near his home on Cold Springs Drive was taken into custody after avoiding law enforcement on Thursday.
Deputies were in pursuit of William Marion Huneycutt III when his car was found at his home. Several officers surrounded Huneycutt’s home only to find his house empty as well as his supplied camping area in the woods.
Huneycutt was found early Friday near his house and is facing multiple charges including petit larceny, assault on an officer, eluding and reckless driving.
A statement from Sheriff Grant Kilgore’s office said there is no danger to the public after the suspect’s arrest. He also noted additional charges could be pending against Huneycutt.
