AMLER to fund two SWVA mine land revitalization projects

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and Congressman Morgan Griffith announced Tuesday that two abandoned mine land sites in Southwest Virginia will be revitalized for job opportunities. The federally funded Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) program will fund 2 sites in Southwest Virginia. In Buchanan County, $1.12 million will fund a Food Incubator at Southern Gap that will feature new facilities including kitchen rental spaces, restrooms and five food truck slips. In Wise County, Just over $3 million has been awarded to the Camp Bethel Expansion Project that will allow for the construction of an outdoor adventure area and new hiking trails. The AMLER program is administered by the Virginia Department of Energy and funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
