SOFHA attempting to keep doctors in it’s system

State of Franklin Healthcare Associates (SOFHA) is attempting to keep a Kingsport family medicine practice in its system, despite initial plans for the practice not to renew its agreement. SOFHA filed a lawsuit on September 17 against Knoxville-based Summit Medical Group and said that it was conspiring with SOFHA doctors to destroy the business. The lawsuit says that Mountain Region Family Medicine would terminate its contractual arrangement with SOFHA on September 30. In a comment to WJHL, the provider stated, “several of the SOFHA family medicine physicians practicing in Kingsport who had recently submitted notices of non-renewal requested to meet with SOFHA leadership, expressing a desire to remain within our organization.” The organization said it will continue to work directly with affected patients.
