More grants for Erwin companies planning to rebuild after Helene

Three Erwin companies washed away during Helene have received a total of more than $4 million in new state grants. The money is aimed at preserving more than 166 jobs. Unicoi County economic development director Austin Finch said it’s one of the final puzzle pieces that also includes federal disaster relief, grants from the governor, and money that the businesses paid out of pocket. Finch said the money is confirmation that the businesses will be coming back to the county.
