Bristol Roots Project announces new grants

The Bristol Roots Project just announced $52,000 in grants for folk and traditional artists in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. The grants come from the Mid Atlantic Arts Program and has two opportunities for local artists and organizations. The Tradition Bearer Fellowship will award 8 individual artists,$4,000 for financial support, professional development, and chances to showcase their work. Then the Cultural Caretakers Grant gives 4 community organizations $5,000 with the goal of helping them grow and sustain their programs. Grant recipients will work closely with Bristol Roots Project leaders for a year and receive mentorship, professional guidance and support.
