Court declares 2 TN gun laws unconstitutional

Late last week, a panel of three judges in Gibson County Chancery Court declared two Tennessee gun laws unconstitutional. The first law is the parks statute, which bans people from carrying a gun in public parks. The second law makes it illegal to carry a gun with the “intent to go armed” which means that an officer no longer has the lawful authority to stop someone if they see them on their own property or out in public possessing a firearm. Pro-gun advocates had felt the two laws violated the 2nd Amendment, and believe this is a win for gun owners in Tennessee. The state has not said whether it will appeal the ruling.
