One dead after officer-involved shooting in Bristol, Virginia

A man who reportedly broke into a home in Bristol, Virginia and shot his gun at Washington County, Virginia deputies is dead after officers returned fire.
The preliminary report from Sheriff Blake Andis’ office said officers responded to the Evergreen Hills subdivision just before 1 am Monday following an alarm call.
The armed man was found inside the residence and he fired his weapon at the deputies. The victim was dead following shots being fired by the officers, the report said.
None of the responding deputies were injured and the homeowners were not at home at the time of the incident. Andis also said there was no longer a threat to the community.
The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office and the Virginia State Police.
