1 A.M. last call ordinance passes final reading in JC

The Johnson City Commission passed on third and final reading an ordinance to prohibit on-premises alcohol sales after 1 a.m. The ordinance passed in a 4–1 vote Thursday night. During the public comment portion, a majority of people spoke against the proposal. Bar owners expressed concerns over lost revenue and cuts to staff. Commissioner Todd Fowler voted against the ordinance. It will go into effect once it has been published in the local newspaper, which takes approximately two weeks.
