Jonesborough Historic Zoning Commission promises more communication after Yoda controversy

The Jonesborough Historic Zoning Commission said it will do more to work with businesses in the downtown area after the recent controversy surrounding a statue of the Star Wars character, Yoda. The statue is located outside the Lollipop Shop. This week, the owner said he was told the statue had to be brought inside after 2 complaints. Town officials with the Historic Zoning Commission said it will work with the owner on filing the necessary paperwork to keep it outside, and will work to improve communication and transparency. Zoning Commission officials said they recognize the need to be more clear with business owners and homeowners in the H1 and H2 zones and said they the commission is not trying to police the businesses. The next Historic Zoning Commission meeting is set for August 28.
