ETSU’s Psychology Department receives $3.7 million in new funding

ETSU’s Department of Psychology and Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health will receive $3.7 million from the Bureau of Health Workforce within the Health Resources and Services Administration. $1.3 million will go to the Department of Psychology and will be used to enhance training and focus on substance use treatment. $2.4 million will help train graduate students in the Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health in the Quillen College for Medicine, with a focus on psychology, social work, counseling and psychiatric nursing. Officials say the funds will help grow the region’s behavioral health workforce in rural areas with over 100 students receiving hands on training, for practice in this region.
