TDOT and VDOT to suspend lane closures for July 4th holiday traffic

As people hit the road to fireworks, cookouts and events to celebrate the Fourth of July, TDOT and VDOT will ease congestion on roadways by temporarily suspending lane closures in many highway work zones. VDOT will lift temporary lane closures in Virginia from noon on Thursday, July 3 until noon on Monday, July 7. TDOT will suspend all construction-related lane closures in Tennessee from noon on Thursday, July 3, through 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 7. While lane closures will be lifted in most locations, motorists may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place.
